Day 4
Blast. Annoying day. I knew I’d hit a dead end when I woke this morning. Instead of advancing, I went back and switched from 3rd person to 1st. The 3rd person version had some backpacker character named Lance as the protagonist, and it wouldn’t take much imagination to figure out that I was writing about myself. That version would have also required an omnipotent narrator, which isn’t challenging enough for my tastes. Today’s progress has been fairly consistent with the other days anyway. I was able to sneak some fun facts about Bolivia into the work, though the craziness that is to be seen in the story will probably hurt its credibility. I look forward to tomorrows writing, as I’m starting to realize the unconscious, logical progression.
Creative intake: Apocalypse Now (The 3 ½ hour version), the first time I’ve seen it and one of the best films I’ve ever seen. Worth another look if you haven’t seen it in times of conflict.
